Rescue Our Furry Friends (ROFF)

ROFF was established in 2004 by Diane Adair and Cindy McClellan. They have placed over 450 dogs, over 250 cats and 23 birds thus far. They do not have a shelter facility and therefore rely on the generosity and kindness of the local Lewistown community to help to foster dogs and cats until their forever homes are found. The Animal Aid and Rescue Foundation of Pennsylvania (AARF PA)

AARF PA provides financial assistance to individuals and rescues in the community to help offset costs of medical expenses. Their main goals are to provide humane solutions to pet overpopulation by spay/neuter, education the community of the benefits of spay/neuter, providing monetary support to animal welfare organizations and to to provide a safe haven through temporary and long-term care for animals. Their corporate office is located in Milroy, PA.

Pets Come First

Located in Centre Hall, Pets Come First (PCF) serves the Central Pennsylvania region and is strongly committed to the placement of stray and unwanted animals into loving homes. They have been a no-kill shelter since 2008 and are dedicated to educating the community on the importance of spaying and neutering all animals. Pets Come First mission is decreasing the number of surrendered and unwanted animals in local shelter and rescue groups. All of their work is possible through monetary and voluntary resources provided by local sponsors within the community. They also offer emergency placement, food, and medical services for pets of approved and responsible low-income and senior citizens.

The Local Pet Food Pantry

Serving Mifflin and Juniata counties, The Local Pet Food Pantry is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families keep their pets in their home by providing free pet food to those who are in need. Our goal is to help prevent families from surrendering their pets to a shelter during economic hardships. They run solely on donations and fundraisers alone.They distribute donations through our local food banks (The Mifflintown Food Bank and Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard in Lewistown), make home deliveries, or can make arrangements for food pick up.
